Porto Skala Hotel - Village is located in Skala village in the southwest of Kefalonia island. Skala is known for its long, beautiful and clean, sandy beaches and nearby there are small nature bays with secluded beaches. Here the sea is almost always calm. This has become very popular with tourists and has a livelier night life than most other villages in the area. The coast road from Skala to Poros is about 12km long and offers wonderful views of the changing sea, rocky cliffs and long pebbled beaches.
Next to the beach
The original pre-earthquake village of Skala stood on the slopes of the hill to the North-East of the existing village. Many of the remains are still there and it is well worth a walk up the hills. At the nearby beach of Potamakia you can find the caretta-caretta turtles which lay their eggs in the sand. Close to the village are mosaics from a Roman villa of the 3rd century A.D. On the outskirts of the village, there are the ruins of the ancient temple of Apollo, dated the 7th century B.C. The whole area affords a splendid view of Zakynthos , Peloponnesus and the Ionian Sea.
GETTING HERE
You can come to Kefalonia by air or by ferry.
There are direct charter flights to Kefalonia from major European cities. Your local travel agent can advise you about schedules and fares. If you cannot find any charter flight direct to Kefalonia consider coming via Athens, Lefkas, Zante, Aktio or Araxos.

From the town of Patra there are daily itineraries to the port of Sami. The duration of the journey is 2 hours and 30 minutes. From the town of Kilini you can also travel to the port of Argostoli (2 hours and 15 minutes) or the port of Poros (1 hour and 15 minutes). The island of Kefalonia is also connected with Ithaca, Lefkada, Astakos, Zakynthos.
